Position Tracking for SEOs

Position Tracking is a tool designed to assist SEOs in identifying opportunities to increase search visibility for specific keywords. The tool can be utilized both organic and paid search, helping SEOs understand both potential value of each keyword as well as performance on Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). With Semrush’s advanced Position Tracking feature, marketers can identify any that need improving, track their rankings and uncover unique SERP Features all from one place.

Position tracking technologies vary considerably in their methods for detecting objects and their surroundings, accuracy levels and costs. Most commonly, global positioning systems such as satellites or cell chips use global positioning signals to pinpoint coordinates on devices – however these have some restrictions which limit accuracy indoors or in urban settings.

GPS signal can become subject to interference from nearby tall buildings and devices that interfere with its signals, creating distortions. Some position tracking systems are capable of mitigating these problems by employing multiple sensors or adding geofencing features in order to overcome such limitations.

Some trackers can operate without external components and instead use internal hardware to gather positional information. For instance, HTC Vive Lighthouse employs beam-scan technology to determine 6-DOF position using timed sweeps of light that strikes photoreceptors in tracked receiver units.

Some positions can be difficult to track in immersive applications due to human movement and body dynamics, making tracking challenging for immersive applications. When this is the case, VR displays and controllers with mechanical tracking features – like strapping a boom around someone’s head or holding their hand as an anchor point – may provide assistance and can reduce hardware costs significantly. Although limited in its ability to report all six degrees of freedom available to humans, these methods of positioning may still prove very accurate and save on additional hardware costs.
